Bronagh Mills

My name is Bronagh Mills,  I am from County Down and like most home birds, after a period of travelling the world I have settled back to the place I have always called home. I share two gorgeous children with my incredibly supportive husband, David.

Cliche, but from I was little I always dreamt of being an artist. I was never too far from a sketch pad, but like many others my career path swept me along a different route and into the field of social care. It is here that I began to reintroduce my love of art with the children at work, where I found painting to be a powerful tool to develop strong and meaningful relationships.

Following the most difficult juncture in my life concerning family and personal ill health, I found the therapeutic nature of art to bring calm and joy, and the dream began to resurface.

Since choosing to follow this path, I began practising at home before reaching out to the local galleries. The support I have gained has been invaluable and provided me with the confidence to further my aspirations. I am continually striving to produce new work which is made easier by the local landscapes here in Northern Ireland. They provide an endless source of inspiration and imagination.

I tend to gravitate to vibrant colours and textures using mainly acrylic or oils, and love using palette knives and a mixture of tools to create the desired effect. It is with these elements that I feel my paintings come alive, allowing the viewer to be transported, to reminisce or to enjoy a snapshot of time away from the here and now.

I am always open to new ideas and interpretations, and would love to hear from anyone interested in my work.
